My 1st/beginning of 2nd Trimester Essentials

1. Bread - I always need to carry a piece of bread in a plastic sandwich bag when I'm commuting to try and stop the nausea becoming too over powering!

2. Orange juice - was never that fussed before I got pregnant but all of a sudden I'm loving a bit of orange juice

3. Vitamins - I know I probably don't get all I need from the food I eat so I try to take preggo vitamins on top. I used to take loads of colic acid etc when trying to conceive so it's not a big deal to carry on remembering to take them!

4. Travel sickness bands - turned to these in desperation and didn't expect them to do anything but they do take the edge off a little...

Nuchal Screening Scan

Our appointment for our nuchal screening scan was on the 11th of October. We were really excited about being able to see the baby again and to be able to start telling everyone the good news!

The scan went fine. They measured the fluid at the back of baby's head, took blood from me and sent both the measurement and the blood off to a lab in Birmingham to calculate the risk of Down's syndrome.

The blood test went really badly this time. They only needed to take 1 vial of blood but for some reason it just wouldn't come out! I ended up with a bruise for weeks that spread all round my arm - a great look! (Photo doesn't do it justice at all!!)

We got to see the baby's heartbeat and it moving around. The sonographer kept saying how active he or she was being. Every time she tried to take a picture for us baby kept jumping away! I kept laughing which didn't help matters haha...

12 Weeks pregnant!!

I've seen these kind of updates on other blogs and thought it might be fun to try it out as well. Seems like an easy way of keeping track of things!...

How far along? 12 weeks

Maternity clothes?  My Zara jeans seemed to be the first things to stop fitting. The hair bobble round the button didn't last very long! So I've gotten a pair of Topshop Leigh maternity jeans, which are ok but a bit too soft for my liking, they seem to stretch out very fast. I've also gotten a couple pairs of maternity leggings which can be worn with long tops for work

Stretch marks? None. Started on the Mama Mio tummy rub already! I'm determined to try and not get any!

Sleep: Bit mixed. Having big trouble with pain in my hips which gets worse at night and often wakes me up :(

Best moment this week: Seeing our baby again at the 12 week scan (separate post to follow!)

Worst Moment This Week: Still being sick and very very nauseous in the morning!

Food cravings: Tangerines, mini cheddars and vinegar...not altogether...yet!!

Miss anything? Not at the moment, other than not feeling sick!

Movement: None yet

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing in particular sets it off. Worse in the morning though

Gender: Don't know!

Labour signs: N/A

Symptoms: Very tired, nauseous, being sick, hip pain, very sore boobs!

Belly button in or out? In and still have belly button piercing in

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move and telling everyone we're pregnant!
