Week 28 Pregnancy Update

How far along? 28 weeks

Maternity clothes? Got a pack of two vests from Mothercare because my normal ones don't cover  bump anymore. Got a new jumper and top from Forever 21. My bump has grown significantly so I'm starting to need some new clothes - happy days (but not for my purse!)

Stretch marks? Still nope. Pleeease let it stay that way

Sleep: Started getting quite uncomfortable again, especially in hospital

Best moment this week: Seeing baby on 4d scan (will do a separate post)!! And getting to leave hospital

Worst Moment This Week: Being in hospital

Food cravings: Butter...mmmm

Miss anything? Started craving a nice cold glass of Rose wine

Movement: Lots!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really

Gender: It''s a secret :)

Labour signs: Had some issues with cramping and tightenings across bump in hospital but they've settled down

Symptoms: Bump growing a lot. More violent kicks and squirmy movements

Belly button in or out? Still in

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy

Looking forward to: Relaxing at home this weekend

Week 27-28 Hospital Admission

On Monday night (27th Jan) I had to come into the hospital because of a bleed I had during the day at work. I had been told I had a low lying placenta at my 20 week scan and if I had any bleeding to call the labour ward straight away.

We went in and were seen almost immediately. I was put in one of the rooms I think they use for delivery, there was a woman next door who was definitely in the advanced stages of labour, scary!!!

I was hooked up to a baby heartbeat monitor and all my vitals were taken. The bleeding had started to tail off by the time  I was in there but, of course, they needed to check everything out.

Baby seemed fine but I was told that the doctor would be round at some point to check me over and maybe do an internal exam (which I was dreading!!).

It took hours for the doctors to appear - I think there were some assisted labours going on - and it the meantime the midwifes were instructed to take bloods and put an IV in. I wasn't expecting this at all and have a bit of an issue with veins! My husband said my face was a picture when they said they'd be putting a line in...

Pregnancy OOTD 23rd Jan

Top, Topshop Maternity. Jeans, Topshop Maternity. Boots, Topshop. Necklace, New Look.

Was having a bit of a Topshop day! The top fits really nicely over bump and is a beautiful deep colour. I'm guilty of always going for darker colours but it's winter so I think I'm allowed haha. I wish I'd bought a few pairs of this version of Topshop's 'Acne' boot I bought a year ago because they fit so well, are a perfect every day boot and are really good quality. Oh well!

iCandy Apple & Quinny Buzz Review

I think the first thing I felt a bit overwhelmed by in terms of things to buy for baby's arrival was the good old travel system. I would have just called it a buggy until I started looking into what's available these days.

We went to Mothercare, Kiddicare and Mamas and Papas as well as looking at various outlets online to try and narrow the huge choice down to a few options suitable for us.

I thought we were quite set on the Mothercare Orb which in itself is a great travel system that looks fab as well as functional.

Pregnant Celebrities Style

Pregnant celeb inspiration!

Its sometimes hard to figure out how to dress your ever growing bump but at least in the age of google we're only a click away from getting some inspiration from the celebrities of the world...

Rachel Zoe makes a living out of being a stylist and always looks fab whether pregnant or not. Her style of dressing always looks effortless and she accessorises to perfection. I love all the chunky jewellery she wears and I think it can be key when pregnant to add a bit more glamour to an outfit. Layering is important too and can help accentuate the parts of your bump that you want seen...

Belly Button Piercings & Pregnancy

I had to do quite a weird thing this week...with my belly button...

My bump is finally getting too big to accommodate my normal belly piercing anymore!
It started getting sore last week but I'd left the retainer bar I'd bought off eBay in London when I was home in Scotland so couldn't take it out without running the risk of it closing up.

A few people have asked why I want to keep it after being pregnant and I'm not really sure why! I've had it done since I was 16 and find my tummy looks really odd without it.

I bought a plastic retainer bar from eBay for £1.90 with postage:

Happy New Year!

A big huge Happy New Year!

I hope 2014 is everyone's best year yet :)

We spent New Year's Eve at a Great Gatsby Party which was good fun. Dressing up and eating was my fun part and drinking was everyone else's haha.

On the plus side I could drive us home which saved a lot of time and grief as everyone knows getting a taxi on NYE is almost impossible!
