Tested Tuesday: Hauck Beta+ Highchair Review

Buying a highchair became almost as big of an obsession for me as buying a pushchair was. There's just too much choice.

I'm not going to lie, I really had my heart set on a Stokke Tripp Trapp but after spending so much money on our pushchair I didn't think I'd be able to convince the husband to spend another whack on a highchair. The new Storm Grey one though, is absolutely beautiful!

Anyway onto the Hauck Beta+. I hadn't actually seen any of the Hauck highchairs until Rebecca from Mrs Meldrum mentioned to them to me. After a bit of a google I decided to go for the Beta+ because it came with a harness and cushion. I'd heard that it can be a bit of a nightmare keeping your baby in a highchair once they get to the wriggly stage!

I really wanted the Hauck Beta+ in White but unfortunately, after a bit of contact with Hauck, it didn't look like it was available anymore so we went for the natural wood instead. I did consider sanding it down and painting it but we wanted to crack on with weaning so that hasn't happened yet.

The RRP is around £69.95 which is a great price for such a fab, good looking highchair that will last for years.

It arrived and was pretty easy to assemble (according to the husband!) and it looks great in our dining room. We're getting a natural wood dining table next week so it'll look even better then!...

Mummy Monday: Dad Q&A On Pregnancy

My husband doesn't really have anything to do with the blog but he obviously has a lot to do with our little family's life so I thought it would be nice to include him for once! Here's a Q&A session with him all about my pregnancy!

Q: How did you feel when you first found out I was pregnant?

A: I was excited, gobsmacked and so happy all in one. It took a while for it to happen so I felt like we were finally getting to start our little family

Q: What were you most excited about?

A: Even from the start, I was most excited about getting to meet our little baby. Getting to see who they looked like, what they liked etc. Was getting ahead of myself a bit...

Tinybeans App Review and Giveaway!

Tinybeans was created when its founders realised that there was no easy way to safely and securely share details of their children's lives with the people that matter most to them. It is a platform that enables us parents to create a 'nurture network' of people and content that matter.

In this day and age when we are constantly on the go and active on technology, we find it much easier to snap photos and moments in our children's lives on our phones. The Tinybeans app is available to download free on iPhone and android devices and allows you to collate information and share it with the important people in your and your children's lives.

The idea is us parents record and share photos, videos and milestones with their network of selected family and friends. The friends and family offer their support and encouragement as they watch the child grow. In addition to this, experts also provide tailored content in line with the child's milestones to help with development.

The screens are very easy to navigate, as you can see below.

I've been using it for the past month and absolutely love it! I mean for a start, how cute is the name?! These days when families, like mine, are more likely to be scattered around the country and world, this sort of app is perfect to keep those important people in the loop of what's going on with your little one. I've thoroughly enjoyed recording all of Isla's milestones and pictures and find the app so so easy to use. When you're uploading photos it's all in chronological order date wise which makes life very easy!

The milestones section is lovely to complete because it's all too easy to forget when your little one has done things for the first time. We've been filling in Isla's religiously.

Usually it's a bit of an effort to put together a photobook, but not with the help of the clever people at Tinybeans. You choose what months you want to include, decided on colours, captions and feature images and boom, it's all done!

The lovely people at Tinybeans have given us a photobook to giveaway to one of our beautiful readers.

For your chance to win enter below. Good Luck!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Thank you Tinybeans for coming up with such an innovative app that helps us preserve and record the memories of our little ones!

Mummy Monday: A Mummy Day vs A Daddy Day

Don't get me wrong, I'm really really lucky that I have a husband that is so hands on when it comes to parenting. He's always been fab with kids and it was one of the qualities that really attracted to him.

In saying this though, there are always days where one parent feels they're doing more than their fair share of parenting duties for the day!

A typical day for me is:...

Scottish Independence - Democracy Has Spoken...

It felt wrong to not write something today, on the day that Scotland (my home country) voted against Scottish Independence and to stay as part of the United Kingdom.

As I am currently a resident of England, I did not get a vote on Scottish Independence and therefore had to wait with baited breath to see what the country had decided for me and my family. We are planning to move back in the next couple years and it seemed pretty unfair that I wasn't allowed a say in a country I am fully from and plan to live in very soon.

The turnout was incredible and it was so inspiring to see people, young and old, heading to the polling station to vote. Here's hoping this has ignited a new passion for politics and inspired all generations to take a bit more interest in what is going on in their local area and beyond.

I stayed up till about 2.30am, which is MADNESS for anyone with a 5 month old, watching the votes come in. And then as soon as I woke up to feed Isla at 6am turned the news back on. It was so nerve-wracking and you really got swept away with what was going on, even from down here on the South Coast.

I've listened to so many debates through friends and family recently and have to say I am glad this will now be over. I have had to bite my tongue on quite a few occasions - ESPECIALLY on Facebook. Hello all you overnight-politicians clogging up my newsfeed with your, sometimes rather aggressive, opinions. I'm definitely a believer that politics should be debated and it can create an almost electric atmosphere but the load of rubbish that kept getting said on Facebook was just getting out of hand.

Oh the social media age we live in - no escape...(says the girl who blogs, vlogs and instagrams the shiz out of everything haha)

Heyho it's all over now!...or is it...

We will all wait to see what comes out of Westminster. I, for one, hope we all, Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland, benefit from this remarkable show of democracy and the way we are governed changes for the better, for all of us.

I am very proud to call myself Scottish (and British) today regardless of what the outcome was.

Entering the World of Vlogging!

So here it is!!! My first ever vlog. Hope you like it. We have lots of plans in the pipeline for new videos and are going to post as many as we can for a few weeks then decide on 2 days a week when we upload new videos once we're in a routine with it.

We've also worked on a little introduction video too...

Please let me know what you think. Would mean so much if you took a peek. It took a lot to build up to doing this! I've had some lovely comments on YouTube, which have meant the world, and always welcome tips and opinions!

Thank you so much for reading and hope you enjoy my bizarre accent haha.

Klout Blog Badge

I was reading one of my favourite blogs, Bump to Baby, when I realised that I didn't have a Klout badge on my site.

In case you're not sure what Klout is:
'Klout is a website and mobile app that uses social media analytics to rank its users according to online social influence via the "Klout Score", which is a numerical value between 1 and 100'

It's basically just a little widget that shows your Klout score on your blog. Sounds like a simple thing to do but I couldn't, for the life of me, for ages find the code needed on their website! So I though I'd put it up here so anyone having the same problem can save themselves some time.

So if you just click add widget on your layout page, select the HTML widget and paste in this code:

<center><iframe src="http://widgets.klout.com/badge/YOURUSERNAME" style="border:0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" width="200px" height="98px">< /iframe ></iframe></center>

Replace YOURUSERNAME with, funnily enough, your Klout username and there you go. it should look like this :)

Mumkind Review and Giveaway!*

I'm super happy to be able to tell you all about Mumkind, a pregnancy nutrition brand that aims to keep us mummies in tip top condition throughout pregnancy and beyond.

Mumkind are a new pregnancy nutrition brand aimed at mums-to-be and busy new super mums (like ourselves!). Pregnancy is often a time when the focus is mainly on the baby and not on the mother and her needs. This is where Mumkind can make a difference, they have designed products that make sure that pregnant women get the nutrition from food rather than tablets. The products have been developed with experts in the nutrition field and midwives so you know you're in safe hands!

Here's an overview of their products:

Ginger Me Baby lozenges

Soothing Ginger and Chamomile lozenges. Ginger is renowned for it's anti nausea properties and can help stop the nasty symptoms of morning sickness. I suffered really badly from morning sickness till about 20 weeks pregnant so could have really done with a box of these. Next time (haha!). The Chamomile provides a soothing sensation. I love a cup of Chamomile tea to de-stress. An added bonus is that the tub is microwavable and freezer proof so can be re-used!

Water Our Way water enhancers

These little pocket sized bottles make 10 drinks of water much more exciting! You just add a squeeze of water to transform your boring glass of water into a berry tasting sensation. The special blend of B vitamins help reduce tiredness and fatigue. It tastes fab and comes with no guilt as it has 0 calories and 0 carbs. Even better and perfect if you're breastfeeding and need some extra hydration.

Bump to Baby nutrition bars

These come in two flavours - Red Berry & Yoghurt and Gorgeous Chocolate. They provide 25% of the RDA of all essential nutrients to top up your levels for the day. The bars have half the calories of chocolate so again no guilt!

Ginger Me Baby lozenges are available at Sainsburys now and other products will be on a big online retailer very soon so keep your eyes peeled.

The lovelies at Mumkind have given me a little package to give away one of you mummies-to-be!

To be in with your chance to win:

2 packs of Ginger Me Baby lozenges
2 bottles of Water Our Way water enhancers

Mummy Monday: Broodiness Soon After Having A Baby

I feel ridiculous even writing this post because the thought of getting pregnant anytime in the very near future is laughable and ludicrous! Nevertheless I feel compelled to write it after some things I've been experiencing lately.

Isla was never a teeny tiny baby. She was 8lbs 11ozs when born and although I do remember saying 'oh she's so small' in the hospital, I don't actually remember her being that small. On 2 occasions last week I was confronted with gorgeous teeny tiny babies.

One was at the baby weigh in clinic I go to and was 3 weeks old. I got to hold her and something inside me suddenly went 'ooh I can't wait to have another'...say what!! Isla is only 21 weeks old. How has my brain forgotten the trials and tribulations of pregnancy?!

The other one was at a baby group I go to and was such a cute little 7 week old boy. Again my mind went 'eeeek I'm so excited to have another!'. Apparently I have also forgotten how horrendous labour is too...

Vita Coco Kids Review (YUM!)*

Even as an adult coconut water is one of those marmite situations whether you either love it or hate it. I personally love it but my husband most certainly doesn't!

We were sent a box of goodies from the lovely people at Vita Coco Kids the other week and have been putting their coconut water to the test.

Topic Thursday: Baby Sleep Routines

I know I am 100% going to jinx myself here by writing a post on sleep routines in babies but here goes!

Sleep, whether it's your own sleep or your baby's sleep, is the holy grail of parenting. It's the main topic of conversation in those first never-ending weeks and something we, as parents, strive to perfect from as early as possible. Apart from a 5 week blip around 3 months when Isla was really colicky we (TOUCH WOOD) have been really lucky with the way that she sleeps. I do believe that it is, in part, related to the sleep routines we put in place when she was pretty young.

Before I start, I just want to say, I know all babies are different and some babies just don't want to sleep no matter what routine or tips and tricks you try. I understand this and don't want to sound patronising whilst writing these tips that have worked for Isla's sleep routine. It's literally just to try and help people who haven't yet tried every trick in the book!...

5 Months (20 Weeks) Old - Baby Update

Wow another fly-by month. This one has been filled with the most amazing changes and it's been such a special, lovely time.

Isla is fast becoming a little person and as well as being incredible, it's terrifying!!

We're just back from 2.5 weeks at home in Scotland which has been so so good. Rob was with us for the first 5 days for Isla's baptism etc but had to go back to work. We've done so much visiting, eating and drinking (see my Instagram/Facebook haha) and general fun stuff. I love being home.

Some (lots) of photos...

Mummy Monday: 5 Month Postpartum Update

I've been back at home up in Scotland for 2 and a half weeks this month so have had a great time! The husband was only with us for the first 5 days so the rest of the time it was just Isla and I. Oh and all of my family and friends at home of course. Was just trying to make out it was harder without him there when it wasn't haha! We were out and about quite a lot and loved catching up with everyone. I even ended up extending my flight to stay an extra few days. As much as I missed Rob, I really miss being around my family so it was nice to et the opportunity to stay a bit longer.

Other than that what else has been going on?...

Topic Thursday: Having a Social Life and Being a Mummy

Having a social life as a parent is a bit of a confusing area. Everyone is so different and has varying views on what's a healthy amount of solo baby time and time galavanting out and about with friends etc.

This will be a bit of a funny post for me because of the fact I'm living in a new area and in the process of trying to make new friends as well as keep up with old friends in other places.

Never the less I have always been a bit of a social bean. I'm not very good in my own company and even have to be forced off work ill because I hate the thought of being alone at home! Don't get me wrong I enjoy the (very) odd evening of alone time but I love filling up my weeks with social activities with friends. Before I had Isla, and we were living in London, it would be quite normal for me to be busy at least 4 evenings out of 7 a week.

Then we moved........

Baby Baptism/Christening

I always knew that we were going to get Isla baptised/christened (I'm going to call it baptised from now on purely because that's what our minister kept referring to it as). My brothers and I were all baptised as babies and religion has always (albeit rather quietly sometimes!) been present in my life.

I know that blessing and naming ceremonies are really popular these days and it's lovely that people have the option to celebrate their babies birth in whatever way they desire...
