Sassy Bloom Subscription Box Review*

Who doesn't love a subscription box? An exciting box of goodies coming through your letterbox every month? Yes please!

Before I got pregnant, I had heard of beauty subscription boxes and snack subscription boxes but not anything to do with babies or parenting.

A few months ago, I had seen Sassy Bloom in the press and when they got in touch to offer to send us a box to review, we were over the moon...

Last Week's Vlog - featuring a dancing daddy!

Catch up with last week's vlog before this week's one goes up tomorrow!

We had lots of fun last week and were super busy doing all sorts. There was lunch with friends, baby dates and a road trip to Bath which is such a beautiful city.

Hope you enjoy!

Little Big Foot - Interactive Storytelling App Review

In our modern world we use technology for practically everything. Whether it is at work on a computer, on an smart phone catching up with news and friends or on a tablet watching YouTube videos, it appears there is an app for everything to help with our day to day lives.

We have reviewed a couple baby/parenting apps in the past and we've been looking at a new storytelling one over the last week.

Little Big Foot is a creation from the founders of Mothership Publishing, screenwriter Peter Kline and Video Game Creative Director Alex De Rakoff. It is aimed at children that 5 or under.

It is a lovely story with a great message behind it. It tells the story of a young Big Foot as he travels away from his home in search of adventure. When he reaches the big city he quickly becomes a star but soon feels unhappy and he misses home.  After being rescued by his dad he realises that everything he was looking for was inside him all along.

Blade & Rose Festive Baby Goodies!*

We were sent some gorgeous little Christmas treats for Isla this week from the lovely British brand that is Blade & Rose.

Blade & Rose specialise in a trendsetting range of leggings featuring stylish designs on the *ahem* bottom area! They are really unique and lots of fun for kids to wear.

The brand was set up by Amanda Peffer, who is a mum of two, and who has recently been announced as a finalist in the Mumpreneur Awards 2014. How exciting! She set up the business whilst she was on maternity leave. It seems a lot of us mummies like to keep busy whilst on leave from work!

The inspiration for the designs on the bottom came when Amanda found herself constantly pulling down her baby daughter's tops to stop the top of her leggings being exposed. In the end she decided to embrace the bottom and designed a fun range of leggings around the concept.

We love the festive leggings and hat. I love anything with a christmas pudding on it, and personally want a Christmas pudding onesie for Christmas, so these were right up my street!

6 Months Old - Baby Update

This one is a bit late...almost a month late in fact. 7 month update coming in the next couple days!

It's been another busy month. I don't think it'll actually ever get any quieter but that's fine, we don't like to be bored!

We went up to Scotland for 2 weeks for my brother's 21st and to generally catch up with friends and family. It was lovely and went by too quickly as per usual.

We've been to a few brand events - the BabyBjörn one was a highlight!...

It's beginning to look a lot like...Christmas! Christmas Boutique Review*

Last month we were sent a lovely box of goodies from The Christmas Boutique. When I opened the box it felt like Christmas was ages away and now all of a sudden we are hurtling towards December! I LOVE Christmas and can't wait for the 1st of December when I can go mad with putting up decorations!

Onto the goodies...

This hanging knitted mitten decoration was my favourite of them all. It is an advent decoration in which you can put little sweeties or other goodies for the run up to Christmas. I love the little pegs, they are too cute. They usually cost £26.99 but are half price at the moment - what a bargain!

First Beauty Post!! Lush Face Mask Review

I've always liked Lush products but I hadn't actually stepped foot in one of their stores for a while. We were out shopping on Saturday and I noticed one tucked away in a shopping centre in Porstmouth. The smell as you enter the shop is amazing! Everything smells so fresh and delicious.

Lush are the biggest players on the UK high street when it comes to handmade cosmetics made. They buy their ingredients ethically, they do not test on animals and their packaging is 'naked' so you can have a clear conscience when buying from them! Another added bonus is that if you bring back 5 little pots, you get a free face mask so you are essentially claiming some money back. Happy days!

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a super friendly staff member who took me through numerous products I was interested in. I honestly could have bought £100s worth of products but settled on a face mask and a hair mask instead. Thought I'd start with the areas that need the most attention! Pregnancy and motherhood has done nothing for my poor skin and hair.

So onto what I bought. The Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask.

I love the Lush packaging. There's just something about a little Black pot! The mask is a fresh one so it has to be kept in the fridge and only lasts 3 weeks...

Remembrance Sunday: Being a Military Family

I thought today would be a poignant day to reflect on what life is like as a military family.

Today is Remembrance Sunday. A Sunday where we stop everything that is going on in our hectic lives to remember and respect those who have given up their lives in various wars to give us the freedoms we are lucky enough to enjoy.

I met my husband about 5 years ago when he was based out in the Middle East. I was on holiday visiting a friend and he was meant to be a rebound! The first year of our relationship was spent long distance or with him travelling to different bases. We saw each other every few months when we first met and spent the rest of the time getting to know each other through 3 hour phone calls and ridiculous Skype sessions where we'd often fall asleep together on screen but 1000s of miles apart.

I moved to London a few months into our relationship and busied myself with a hectic job and city life. As much as you get used to being apart, there are always moments when you stop and wish they were there...

Tested Tuesday: BabyBjörn We Carrier Review*

We were very lucky last month and were invited by BabyBjörn along to the launch of their new We Carrier. You can read about the lovely time we had here.

We've finally gotten round to reviewing the carrier properly. I wanted to take a bit of time and really use the carrier in lots of different situations so that I could report back to you lovelies with lots of information.

We've also put together a video review for you...

First things first, here's the low down on BabyBjörn in case you are not aware of who and what they are!

'BabyBjörn is a family owned Swedish company that develops, markets and distributes innovative products for children aged 0-3 years.  The company was founded in 1961 and employs around 100 people. Their business concept was at the time, and still is: "To make day-to-day life easier for parents of small children by developing safe and innovative products of the highest quality for children up to three years old."
Onto the We Carrier...

Mummy Monday: Feeling Guilty?

Do you ever get the feeling you are expected to juggle 100 things at once and still come out smiling at the end of every day?

Before I had Isla, I was bad enough at putting pressure on myself to get a ridiculous amount done each day. I'd want to tick off as many things as humanely possible on my to do list at work. I'd stay up late to keep the house really OCD clean and tidy. I'd fill up my diary on evenings to see as many friends as possible. I'd go to the gym. And on top of this I'd try to keep the husband as happy as possible - they require a lot of attention these husbands!

Now that Isla has come along things have shifted a little but I still feel the pressure to cram a lot of things into one day. I'm not one of these people who can sit down and relish in the cuddles of a new baby for hours on end. Don't get me wrong I LOVE BABY CUDDLES and often sit with Isla for a while when she falls asleep on me, but I do get restless and agitated about all the thing I still need to do for the day.

I go to about 6 things a week for Isla which takes up quite a bit of time but, as bad as this sounds, I find it much easier to switch off and focus on her when we're out and about at groups. It means I can't be on my phone/laptop which is my main distraction when I'm at home.

I can imagine that many new mums, especially us bloggers, use technology to escape and reconnect with our lives pre-baby. It's also very hard to keep up with everything in the blogging world without being on Twitter/Instagram/Facebook for at least half the day!!

I try so hard to balance motherhood and other things I enjoy, such as blogging and going to the gym, but I often find myself feeling really guilty as I wish her to sleep just so I can get some blogging/housework/washing etc done.

It's hard when partners come home at night and make comments about 'your blogging'. You just want to say 'I've been with my beautiful baby all day, you haven't. Just let me have this hour or so to catch up on what I need to. I'm not pissing about on my laptop, I'm blogging, which is practically my job at the moment!!'.

I have to say my husband is so so good and rarely ever makes comments like the above but I always get scared it's what he's thinking in his head - that I'm sacking off family time to focus on my blog.

We can't get this time back and we should savour every tiny moment with our little people before they grow up and don't need us anymore but at the same time, it's very hard to put life on hold.

It is widely known that women are better than (most) men at multi-tasking, do you think we take this too far and try to do too much? Do you feel guilty about not doing things you feel you should be or not spending as much time with your baby as you think you should?

I really don't know where I stand on it. Some days I feel more guilty than others. It'll be even more difficult once I get a new job and that gets thrown into the mix too.

Style Saturday: BOTD

White Short Sleeved Bodysuit, Next £8
Leggings, Tesco

This is actually what Isla wore yesterday but I loved it so much I thought I'd post it today. Her t-shirt bodysuit thing looks a bit old-man esque but if I put a loose tee on her, she just pulls it up all day!

I love dressing her up in things that are a bit different from the traditional girly-girl outfits . Unfortunately a lot of the edgier, fun outfits for girls are also more expensive i.e. you have to get them from Australia or America or the more expensive high street shops.

She looks so grown up in this outfit - aaaah time slow down please!
