Weekend Baby Style #10

Hannah is still on her holidays this week so we will be hosting the linky all by ourselves again. Don't worry you will have her back too as of next week! We are seriously loving each and every one of you who come back to link up with us, as well as all the new people we get to meet. This linky is special to us because we've met so many great other bloggers through it.

Our special mentions from last week...

There were far too many great outfits to choose from which made it hard to pick out a couple!

A bit of a Mustard theme going on last week - bloody love that colour.

Isla's weekend's outfits this week.

Top, H&M | Leggings, George @ Asda | Uggs, Ugg Australia | Bib,  | Elephant Toy, The Little White Company
I am obsessed with cats so obviously love the print on these leggings from Asda. The neon pop of colour is really fun as well but i felt i had to tone it down with the Black long sleeve tee. Her Uggs are still a bit too big but I figured you all are probably sick of seeing our moccasins!

Dress, George @ Asda | Leggings, Next | Moccasins, Fawn & Finch | Headband, What's in Lily's Closet
One of Isla's little boyfriends is having his 1st birthday party on Saturday and this is her outfit for the celebrations. I'm not a big one for dresses on Isla but I love the neck of this dress and the colours. It reminds me of something Nicole Richie would wear! Teamed with the Black leggings, I think it dresses it down a little which is good.

I will update with photos of her wearing the dress tomorrow.

So yeah, bit of an Asda bonanza which is unusual for us!

The Big Childcare Question

Childcare. One of the hot topics when it comes to parenting. Whether you are going back to work part time, full time, or not at all and you just want to give yourself a little break each week, the topic will have usually crossed your mind at some point. The other reason it is such a hot topic is because it is so damn expensive!
I had a rough idea of the cost involved after listening to various people in my old office discussing it before I went on maternity leave but I didn’t really appreciate the process involved with organising it all until it was my turn.
I always knew I wanted to go back to work and I also knew with it having to be a new job (moved to a new area just before having Isla) that it would probably be a full time role. I wasn’t sure if after I had her that my mind would change but it hasn’t appeared to so far. I’m going to do a separate post on returning to work soon. So with that in mind I had to decide on what was best for us childcare wise.
Unfortunately we don’t have either of our sets of parents near us so that was never an option for us for childcare. My mum would have loved to have Isla for a couple days a week but a commute from Aberdeen, in Scotland, to the South Coast of England every day isn’t really very viable!!
The two main other options are:

Weekend Baby Style #9

We're going it alone this week! Hannah is off on her holidays (the lucky thing) so we will be hosting the linky all by ourselves. You will have to bear with me today, as I just started back at work full time on Monday, but I promise I WILL give this linky all the time and exposure that it deserves. And, of course, I will comment on all your gorgeous link ups.

First off, our fave from last week...

I love love love Joey's 'Hi' top from H&M - I almost bought it for Isla the other week but they didn't have her size! The elephant leggings go perfectly too. Fab outfit Lauren from Life & Loves of Lolly.

Special mention has to go to Pretty Ayah who blow us away every week with their gorgeous photos. We look forward to them every week!

So this week's' outfits.

Bodysuit, Donna Wilson at John Lewis | Headband, | Moccasins, Fawn & Finch

The print, on the bodysuit, is just my favourite thing ever. There were also leggings with the same print but ALAS, they weren't in Isla's size. It broke my heart a little bit. I really like the Donna Wilson at John Lewis range. I'd never really come across it before and now I've picked up 3 pieces in the sale. Winning!

Top, H&M | Leggings, Donna Wilson at John Lewis | Moccasins, Hux Baby | Hat, Satila of Sweden

I am obsessed with all things clouds. FYI, Gap Kids have a whole range of baby items featuring clouds at the moment. I have banned myself from going in! So, anyway, back to the leggings. Yes, I love the print and the lovely soft colours used for the print. I think the boldness of the maroon top breaks up the outfit nicely and of course where would we be without our trusty moccs and the hat with the giant-est bobble in the world?!

Check out our mini baby shopping haul on the YouTube channel so see some other bargain bits we picked up:

#FullTimeWorkingMama

Well today is a strange day. Today marks the last day of my maternity leave. I meant to do a whole series of blog posts in the run up to today, all about returning to work and childcare. Alas, I have been so wrapped up in just enjoying my last few weeks of maternity leave, that it just hasn't materialised yet. I promise it will though. Better late than never huh?

So...I'll give you a bit of a background into my working life. I used to work for a major high street retailer at their head office in Central London as an International Assistant Merchandiser on Childrenswear. Which, simply put, means I used to plan stock packages and manage intake on my Childrenswear departments for all our International Stores. I loved my job! I loved the people I worked with, the departments I managed and the office I worked in. However, 3 weeks before I had Isla, I had to move down to the South Coast as my husband is in the Royal Navy and is now based here for the foreseeable future.

I started job hunting after Christmas and got offered the job, that I am starting tomorrow, a few weeks ago. It's a great job which I'm really excited about, in a new industry, which will hopefully be great for my career. It's also very well known company which I am really happy to be joining.

Despite all of this, it will still be a shock to the system going back to work full time.

I never planned not to go back to work. I love Isla to bits but always knew I wouldn't be suited to being a stay at home mum. I have the utmost respect for people who are stay at home parents. In the future, it would be great to have the option of flexi time but for now I'm happy with full time and looking forward to this new challenge in my career.

It is going to be interesting to try and get myself and a 10 month old baby out the door by 7.30am each day. I struggled when it was just myself!

So goodbye baby groups, weekday coffee dates and catching up with blogging whilst Isla is sleeping. And hello getting super organised the night before, making the most of every evening and getting the most out of every weekend going forward.

Look out for new What I Wore Wednesday: The Work Edition, coming soon!

Wish me luck!!! I will be vlogging and blogging my way through it and look forward to sharing it with you all.

How did you find going back to work or choosing not to go back to work, when your maternity leave was up?

I'll leave you with this little video I made for Isla to mark the last 10 months we've spent together...

RBS #SaverStories*

When you become a parent, financial and money matters that you hadn't really take into consideration can often come to the front of your mind as you start to plan (and often worry!) about your future.

I've always been quite conscious when it comes to money and was brought up to appreciate the worth of it. My brothers and I were always encouraged to save up our pocket money in order to buy things that were out of our reach at the time. I remember saving up to buy each new Sims game that came out and all the expansion packs. I was a little obsessed!

In the past, probably the biggest thing I've ever had to save up to put money towards was my wedding two and a half years ago. My parents, bless them, provided the bulk of the budget but Rob and I saved up some extra money to put towards it and also saved up for our honeymoon that we were planning on going on a couple months after the wedding. Unfortunately, this also coincided with us moving in together into a (very) expensive flat in London...

Weekend Baby Style #7

We've mixed it up for you this week, you lucky people! First of all, you get the pleasure of two outfits from Miss Isley and secondly, we have not one but TWO gorgeous babies featured. We've been spending the week with my beautiful friend Jess from Lilypod & Sweetpea and her gorgeous baba Jaspy. So he is our VIP baby style guest this week!

(Waaaah, too cute!)

Onto our second outfit...

Crown Sweatshirt, H&M | Floral Harems, Next | Moccasins, Fawn & Finch

I love love love this crown sweatshirt. The crown itself is a gold glitter print and the rest of the sweatshirt is a lovely cosy cotton material, with a fleecy lining. I just got these floral harems the other week as they were on offer in Next - buy two for £10. Bargain I say! I quite enjoy the way they go together. Our poor Gold moccs are getting pretty worn now. Time to invest in some more!

Now it's your turn!

The Bluestone Series: Blue Lagoon Waterpark

Today we made our way to the Blue Lagoon Waterpark, here at Bluestone National Park, for the first time. We had heard many good things through other bloggers about the waterpark and pool so we were excited to try it for ourselves.

The Blue Lagoon Waterpark was only about a 10 minute walk from our lodge and we took the babies in their pushchairs. The forest paths are quite negotiable with pushchairs and also provide some full on light exercise for us mamas.

Once you get there you are given a paper pass with a bar code on it that is valid for the duration of your stay. There is a pram park in a stairway near the reception that you have to put your pushchairs in before going through to the waterpark. We left our coats and blankets and other bulky things such as scarves with the pushchairs so they didn't take up too much room in our lockers. You scan in through the turnstiles and you're off through to some stairs to go down to the changing area.

The Bluestone Series: Getting Here

We set off on Monday the 6th of Feb to head towards our little 5 day staycation at Bluestone National Park Resort in Wales. Isla and I drove up to Jess from Lilypod & Sweetpea's house as she had offered to drive us all there. We left a little later than planned but got to Jess' for about 12pm. As we couldn't check in to the actual lodge till 4.30pm, we thought it would be better (coming on our own with 2 babies) to wait until the lodge was ready before arriving!

(Our car before we drove to Jess'!)

It felt like we had packed everything and the kitchen sink but we managed to fit everything into Jess' car and set off.

Brother Max Giveaway!

When you have a baby or young child in the house, one of the essential products you are going to need is a thermometer. We have realised, especially since Isla started nursery, that kids are germ sponges and seem to get ill on a weekly basis! You need to be able to quickly and effectively check what your baby's temperature is so you know whether there is significant cause for concern or not. To be honest, we have been lucky and have only had to use ours a few times but it really does put your mind at rest when you are able to get an accurate temperature from an easy to use thermometer.

There is a huge variety of thermometers out there that you can buy but I'm going to tell you about the 2 in 1 Digital Thermometer from Brother Max.

It is a multi function 2 in 1 thermometer that is actually designed for the whole family. You are able to measure ear and forehead temperatures. It provides a fast and accurate reading in 1 second to the closet 0.1ยบ . The design is  really eye catching and sleek and easy to hold and operate with 1 touch buttons and clear icons. The LCD display will display the temperature clearly.

What sets it apart from some of the other thermometers on the market is that it is designed for use without the probe covers so you don't have to buy them separately. You can just wipe the probe clean.

Other features:
- when repeatedly taking temperature, a 10 second countdown is displayed whilst re-acclimatising
- memory stores last temperature for reference
- easy to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit modes
- very long battery life
- battery level display to indicate when batteries need replaced

We have one to give away to one of our lucky readers. Enter below!

Good Luck!
