1st Birthday Gift Ideas

Another one for the 1st birthday series!

I thought we’d share a few bits and pieces I’d love to get/have already gotten for Isla’s 1st birthday. No one tell her please haha.

I don’t want to go too wild because she is only turning one after all. I’m basically just using it as an excuse to get her some things that I’ve wanted to get her for a while but haven’t found a reason to justify them. We’ve also been asked by relatives what to get her so I’ve included some of those. She is one lucky lady when it comes to presents from our families and friends and we still have unopened toys from Christmas, so I don’t want to be overrun by toys when she has more than enough already. I need to donate some of the older ones we’ve bought her that she’s not fussed about to charity so that other children can benefit from them.

Weekend Baby Style #14

Another week and we're very excited to see all your fab kids' outfits - spread the word and lets join up with as many lovely bloggers as we can!

Here are Isla's weekend's outfits for this week.

Dress, Beebies Baby Store | Shirt, H&M | Tights, Primark | Moccasins, Fawn & Finch

We are suuuuch huge fox fans and this little cutie of a dress from Beebies Baby Store has a lovely fox print on it. It's a loose fit dress with button straps and is fully lined. It is made from lovely material and fits really well. We teamed it with a denim shirt, tights and moccasins to match it in with Isla's style.

Top, Gap| Leggings, Gap | Cardi, H&M | Uggs, Ugg Australia | Bow Headband, Blossom Wood Boutique

Ahhhhh I can't tell you how happy I am that I found this top! I think I saw in on Instagram randomly one day and popped into Gap to see if I could but find it but alas I couldn't. Fast forward a couple months and I randomly found it in the sale for £1.99. Happy days!! I love the Khaki colour and the font of the writing. Her Uggs are still a bit big but I love them. The headband is another one from our lovely collection from Blossom Wood Boutique. The floral print on the bow is gorgeous.

We love our Blossom Wood Boutique headbands and if you fancy 20% off a purchase from Blossom Wood Boutique, please use code THEKNOTTBUMPANDUS!

Eee, another hard decision but our special mentions, this week, are:

We absolutely love Santi from Baby Holiday's tee from last week. What a fab colour and saying!

How cute is this flower crown!! Such a little hippy chic. Thanks Baby Sausages for sharing.

1st Birthday Plans…

So it’s now less than a month till Isla turns the big ONE. I’m going to try and stay away from the old clichéd ‘I can’t believe where the time has gone’ chat and instead focus on how we’re marking this special occasion. I’ll probably do an emotional post (with video) closer to the day but for now, let’s stay practical!
The week before her birthday we have a cake smash photo shoot booked at a local photographer, who we’ve used before and who’s great. I’m going to bring along the decorations above to jazz up the plain White background and I’ll probably dress her in a White tutu or frilly pants. She’ll love us for this when she’s older haha.

So onto Isla's weekend's outfits this week.

Tee, Zara | Bodysuit, Next | Leggings, Next | Headband, Blossom Wood Boutique | Fox Moccasins, Beebies Baby Store

I'm not going to lie, this outfit was basically planned around the Beebies Baby Store fox moccasins. I mean, why wouldn't it be! They are just too too cute. I definitely think they could be a unisex item due to the colours. The quality of the leather and the craftsmanship that has gone into them is really high. We teamed them with the Mustard leggings because I thought the colours went really well and the Orange on the top works into the fox colour palette too. We love our Blossom Wood Boutique headbands and this peachy coloured one is a little cutie, very delicate detailing which is beautiful. If you fancy 20% off a purchase from Blossom Wood Boutique, please use code THEKNOTTBUMPANDUS!

Top, Zara| Leggings, H&M | Moccasins, Hux Baby | Bib, Asda |Leather Bow Headband, Blossom Wood Boutique

A Blue and Grey kind of an outfit day today! I do love a stripe and these leggings are no exception. This outfit was actually a rushed job. We were in a rush to get to nursery but I think the headband, leggings and moccs go together and the Grey tee breaks it up nicely. This headband is one of my favourite things in Isla's wardrobe at the moment, just beautiful!

It's always such a hard decision but our special mentions, this week, are:

The Little Things in Life - ahhh Daisy is just beautiful! That cardi and headband combo is such a winner. Her clever mummy has opened a fab little shop recently too...

Hello Archie - Oh my goodness I am in love with this whole outfit but the jacket is a complete winner for me. So lovely and vibrant!

Buffalo & Bear Leggings Review*

We came across the fab British, independent shop that is Buffalo & Bear on Instagram one day and were immediately hooked.
They offer a range of very fashion forward, GORGEOUS leggings and moccasins in a variety of prints and colours.
The quality of the materials they use and the beautiful colour palettes they work towards shine through even on their Instagram feed.

5 Rubbish Things About Being A Parent Away From Your Own Parents

I live on the South Coast and my parents live in the North East of Scotland. Rob’s parents live in Derbyshire so neither sets of grandparents get to see Isla on a very regular basis. We plan trips up and they plan trips down and try to see each other as much as possible but it’s going to be a lot harder to schedule now I’m back at work full time.
With that in mind, here are my 5 rubbish things about being a parent whilst living away from your own parents.

First Ever Mother’s Day

So my first ever Mother’s Day as a mum, as well as a daughter, literally just vanished. I don’t think I even fully appreciated it was actually mother’s day because we were so busy.

So onto Isla's weekend's outfits this week.

Comic Relief Tee, TK Maxx | Leggings, Next | Headband, Next | Moccasins, Fawn & Finch

We thought we would show our support and buy one of the fab designer tees that have been created especially for Comic Relief 2015, aka Red Nose Day. I love the top knot style of this headband from Next and the fact it's a really subtle corded material. As I type this I am desperately trying to think of something Red I can wear to work tomorrow. I have a severe lack of Red in my wardrobe compared to Isla. May have to rock Red lipstick instead...

Top, H&M | Flamingo Leggings, Primark| Moccasins, Fawn & Finch | Bib, Hux Baby | Glitter Bow Headband, What's in Lily's Closet

I love love love these flamingo leggings from Primark. We featured flamingo leggings from Buffalo and Bear last week so you might be able to tell I have a slight obsession with flamingos. Not quite on the fox level yet, but getting there! I'm not a big Pink person, but the neon-ness of this Pink is fab. Really bright and fun. I reckon you could wear these bad boys to go raving in Ibiza! The Black cross bib is a bit of a clash but I think it works well. I needed something to break up the girly-ness of the leggings!

It was SO hard to choose this week but our special mentions are:

Wave to Mummy - how gorgeous is this outfit. You wouldn't believe the bargain it was either!!

MummyandtheBubbas - LOOK AT THOSE MOCCS!! What a great colour! We all know how I feel about moccasins...

Beauty: Urban Decay Perversion Mascara Review

I am obsessed with mascara. It’s a fact. I think it’s due to the fact I have super Blonde eyelashes and without mascara I inevitably get asked the question ‘are you feeling ok?’ at least once a day.
I remember someone telling me years ago that naturally Blonde people shouldn’t wear Black mascara. They should stick to Browns and lighter colours. Well I’ve worn full on, thick Black mascara since day one! I love it and it’s an essential part of my make up routine.
This means I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect mascara. It used to be Bourjous’ Clubbing Mascara, then it was MAC’s Haught & Naughty Lash and many more in-between.

Why I Couldn’t Be A SAHM

When I was pregnant with Isla, long before I even went on maternity leave, I always knew I would be going back to work. Whether it would be part time or full time, I was determined to carry on with my career.
There are a few reasons why I felt like this.
I’ve always enjoyed workingI got my first job at 14, even though I got more than adequate pocket money from my parents, and have worked ever since. I’ve been a chambermaid, a waitress, a babysitter, a bar supervisor, a shop assistant and all that that was before I started my chosen career after university!  I have made some of my best friends in life through places I’ve worked and love the atmosphere of working as a team.

Weekend Baby Style #11

Hannah is baaaaack! It sounds like she had a lovely time on her holidays and she's now raring to go with #weekendbabystyle again. Thanks for trusting us to host it alone! Check out her blog First Time Mummy for all her previous #weekendbabystyle posts and much more.

Our special mentions from last week are at the bottom of the post now (having them at the top was messing up my thumbnails on links for the post I'm afraid!)...

Isla's weekend's outfits this week.

Top, Zara | Leggings, Buffalo & Bear | Headband, Blossom Wood Boutique | Moccasins, Fawn & Finch

This face!

These Buffalo & Bear leggings are one of my FAVE things in Isla's wardrobe at the moment. They are literally beautiful. Such high quality with a fab Flamingo print. Who doesn't love a Flamingo?! They are very on trend this SS15 don't you know. The fit lovely and I think they go really well with the Khaki colour of this cute Zara tee. Loving the bow detail. Our gorgeous big embellished Blossom Wood Boutique headband goes perfectly too, happy days!

Top, Dot & Co, Beebies Baby Store | Leggings, Dot & Co, Beebies Baby Store | Moccasins, Hux Baby | Hat, Braces And Bows

So, my bad. I totally didn't realise the fox leggings and top, from Beebies Baby Store, were pyjamas!! I think they look pretty cool with this denim shirt and moccs though. Non? Our lovely friend Hayley has opened a shop called Bows And Braces and this hat is from there. I love the pop of colour and it matched the Yellow on the leggings. Lovely!

And our special mentions are:

These gorgeous two brothers from Little and Big

And Indie's, gorge Ladybird outfit!
